Google Website Releases Top Ranking Steps

Mountain View, California - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - November 21, 2008 - The Google search engine official website, has released information on how to rank at the top of the search engine destination.

According to the Official Google Blog entry on the subject, ''Today we're launching SearchWiki, a way for you to customize search by re-ranking, deleting, adding, and commenting on search results. With just a single click you can move the results you like to the top or add a new site. You can also write notes attached to a particular site and remove results that you don't feel belong. These modifications will be shown to you every time you do the same search in the future. SearchWiki is available to signed-in Google users.''

Who among us has not dreamed of ranking in the very top spot at Google for the most lucrative and competitive search terms in our industry? And who also among us has worked tirelessly day after day, grooming our websites, creating rich, unique and compelling content, using every white hat SEO technique in the book - only to fail in our quest for the number one spot? Our dreams dashed by the mighty Google algorithm.

If you have ever sought to see your website in the number one spot at Google - your quest is over. Google has introduced SearchWiki. What exactly is SearchWiki and what does it do?

The SearchWiki does have a few caveats. First - any changes that you make to the search results are seen by you and you alone. Also, you must be logged into your Google account to see your Google SearchWiki results. Another interesting feature - it is absolutely impossible to remove the AdWords paid advertising results. A great addition to the ability to move results around is also the ability to add completely new results that are not even represented on the page. Not listed for a key search term? Just go to the entry window at the bottom of the page and type in your URL. One feature that is sure to be interesting over time - the ability to add comments to particular search entry. I was able to add the very first comments under the search term 'web hosting' for website hosting company 34sp.com. If you log into your Google account and search 'web hosting' then navigate to the bottom of the page and you will see a link entitled, 'See all notes for this SearchWiki'. According to what I have read at Google - you should be able to read my notes about the company there.

According to the Official Google Blog, this new feature may be the first step towards actually incorporating user feedback into broader search results. Quoting the blog, ''This new feature is an example of how search is becoming increasingly dynamic, giving people tools that make search even more useful to them in their daily lives. We have been testing bits and pieces of SearchWiki for some time through live experiments, and we incorporated much of our learnings into this release. We are constantly striving to improve our users' search experience, and this is yet another step along the way.''

So live it up and put your site right up to the number one spot. Even if it's just in your own browser, it still feels really good.
