Santa Clara, California - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - October 2, 2007 - Sun Microsystems web hosting and software development company, has offered its 2007 Annual Stockholders' Meeting Proxy Materials, in compliance with a new SEC Notice and Access rule.
Under the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's new Notice and Access rule, Sun's proxy materials can now be found on the Company's investor relations website. By following the new Notice and Access rule, Sun has reduced the number of printed copies of its proxy materials this year by more than 90 percent, both lowering the cost and reducing the environmental impact of producing and delivering these materials.

Sun is one of the first large accelerated filers (issuers having a market capitalization of $700 million or more) to adopt the notice and access rule. As an alternative to the traditional approach of delivering a printed set of proxy materials to each stockholder, companies may now deliver a ''Notice of Internet Availability of Proxy Materials'' to stockholders, provide Internet access to the proxy materials, and provide a printed set of proxy materials by mail to any stockholder who requests them.
Sun's 2007 annual report on Form 10-K and proxy statement have been filed with the SEC, and may be viewed on Sun's website at http://www.sun.com/investors. Sun's stockholders may obtain hard copies of Sun's proxy materials free of charge by following the instructions provided on the company's website or in the ''Notice of Internet Availability of Proxy Materials.''
The Sun Microsystems 2007 Annual Meeting of Stockholders will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. (PST) at Sun's Santa Clara Campus, located at 4030 George Sellon Circle, Santa Clara, California 95054.
Recently, Sun made available its OpenJDK Community Technology Compatibility Kit (TCK) License, to allow for enhanced portability of the solution. The license is for the Java Compatibility Kit (JCK), a suite of tests, tools and documentation that determines whether or not an implementation complies with the Java Platform Standard Edition 6 specification. The evolving OpenJDK community understands that the value of their efforts, as well as the resulting open source Java technology implementations, will be greatly enhanced if these implementations can be certified as compatible. Sun is licensing the JCK under terms that will permit contributors to fully comply with the terms of the GNU General Public License version 2 (GPLv2), while giving the OpenJDK community the means to test for compatibility. It is hoped that the OpenJDK Community TCK License will enable developers to test the compatibility of their contributions to the OpenJDK project. It will also allow distributors to test complete implementations that are substantially derived from OpenJDK and distributed under GPLv2. Organizations or individual developers that use the OpenJDK Community TCK License and then successfully pass compatibility testing, will also have the option of branding their implementation with Sun's "Java Compatible" trademark and logo.
In addition, Sun's new Start-Up Program, is designed for members to work with Sun partners, Joyent and NaviSite, to rent discounted web hosting infrastructure based on Sun technologies. In addition to offering products and services to eligible PRC- and India-based startup companies, Sun is also offering free technical advice via email and access to free software, such as Apache, MySQL and Perl (AMP), optimized to run on the Solaris 10 OS.
