AT&T says the service dramatically improves the end-user experience for the applications, enabling businesses to interact more effectively with their online customers and improve the productivity of employees and suppliers.
Available to AT&T enterprise hosting customers, the company says the service not only makes Web applications work faster, but also enables businesses to get more efficient use from their available Web server, Internet access or virtual private network resources. The solution is also based on open standards, enabling it to operate transparently to users without requiring custom Web application coding, special Web browser versions or settings, proprietary networks or equipment located at end-user sites.
"As companies today increasingly rely on Web-based applications to power both customer-facing and back-office business processes, the performance and user experience of these applications have become critical to business success," says Steve Caniano, VP of AT&T Hosting Services. "Solutions to accelerate application delivery exist in the marketplace, but many IT shops lack the experience with these technologies to get the best use out of them. AT&T addresses these problems by being the first managed hosting provider to integrate a fully managed application acceleration solution with its global IP network and complement of worldwide Internet data centers."
