Go Daddy Enters Dedicated and Virtual Dedicated Hosting Services Market

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (March 24, 2004) The Go Daddy Group, Inc., parent company of GoDaddy.com, the No. 1 registrar of domain names, today officially announced its entrance into the dedicated and virtual dedicated server market. Go Daddy was already a shared hosting provider, but in response to customer requests, has expanded its hosting offerings to include the more specialized dedicated and virtual dedicated hosting services.


'We wanted to expand our hosting services to meet the needs of our more technically advanced clients,' said Bob Parsons, president and founder of Go Daddy. 'After researching the best way to enter the market, we decided it was absolutely necessary to purchase, configure and maintain the hardware in-house, with our own engineers. That way, we could ensure our dedicated and virtual dedicated customers receive absolutely the best support and value. And we are able to provide these advanced hosting services without charging our customers a setup fee or requiring any long-term contractual commitments.'



Unlike shared hosting plans, in which customers share server space with other users, Go Daddy's dedicated hosting service provides customers with their own server, up to three dedicated IP addresses and complete control over the server itself. Users have 'root access,' which means they can install software on the dedicated server, provide access to users they designate, and more. Dedicated servers are also useful for companies, small businesses and individuals that run high-traffic Web sites, and thus, need the bandwidth and consistent performance of a dedicated server. Dedicated servers can also be used for a variety of other purposes, such as gaming servers, FTP servers, Internet relay chat servers, etc. Go Daddy's dedicated servers start at $109/month.



Go Daddy's virtual dedicated hosting service offers many of the capabilities and features of dedicated hosting, including administrator access and dedicated IP addresses, but at an even lower price. With virtual dedicated hosting, the customer shares the server with a small number of other customers, but still retains full control over his/her portion of the server. Go Daddy's virtual dedicated servers start at $34.95 a month. Discounts of 20% are available for both dedicated and virtual dedicated server plans when purchased for 12 months in advance.
