SERVEPATH OPENS NEW SAN FRANCISCO DATA CENTER

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – October 22, 2002 – ServePath, a provider of dedicated servers and managed hosting services, today announced the opening of its new San Francisco data center facility.

At a time when many telecom facilities are closing, and millions of square feet of office space and computer facilities are vacant in San Francisco's south-of-market district (SOMA), ServePath is expanding there. The Internet Service Provider (ISP) is growing because it is small, focused, and able to provide reliable services that are increasingly important to small and medium businesses today.

“ServePath is doing well because our strong business case for outsourcing Internet servers is especially compelling in today's tough climate,” said John Keagy, President and co-founder of ServePath. “The economy is forcing companies to conserve cash so they don't want to waste their capital and engineering resources when they can get better services cheaper, faster and easier through outsourcing.”

ServePath's new data center is located in the Townsend Telecommunications Center at 650 Townsend Street, where Macromedia, Sega, and several telecom companies also have offices. The ServePath facility provides a controlled environment with UPS systems and an auto-start diesel generator, 864,000 watts of redundant power, Liebert air systems, and multiple high-speed fiber connections to leading networks throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The network reliability is augmented by the physical security of an internal location, with no walls bordering a building exterior, security guards, and sophisticated alarm and fire suppression systems. The facility will be staffed 24/7 with ServePath engineers to ensure that customer servers are always online and functioning properly.

"The facility we have is an awesome gift from the past," said Keagy. "ServePath has leveraged the infrastructure built during the dot-com boom to become the West Coast's leading dedicated server experts."

ServePath is an Internet Service Provider (ISP) focused exclusively on providing the outsourced server infrastructure for high traffic web sites, application hosting, and other demanding Internet services. This is known as a “dedicated server” because each client rents their own hardware, unlike traditional web hosting accounts where hundreds or thousands of web sites share the resources of a single server. ServePath currently has more than 500 servers under management, including a large number of International clients who want their Internet presences to be housed on a strong network in the US for better performance.

ServePath will also be offering collocation services in the new facility for customers who wish to house their own server hardware in a Internet Data Center.
