Hostway Opens Up Voting on $10,000 Corporate Gift-Giving Initiative for Leading Charities
Company Continues Tradition of Donating Rather than Gift-Giving and Asks for
Help in Choosing from Among Five Charities to Receive Donation
CHICAGO, IL - December 5, 2013 - Hostway, a leading provider of cloud, managed
and hybrid hosting services, today announced a new approach to the company’s
gift-giving tradition: This year, the company will provide website visitors an
opportunity to vote for one of five charities, with the organization that gets
the most votes receiving a donation of $10,000 from Hostway. Visitors can read
about the organizations and cast their votes now; voting closes on December 30,
2013.
Holiday season gift-giving is a tradition at Hostway, but last year, moved by
the plight of Hurricane Sandy victims, the company donated $10,000 to the Red
Cross Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund en lieu of customer gift-giving. Feedback from
customers was tremendous, and Hostway was looking for a way to better involve
their customers in the selection of a recipient for the funds. As a result,
Hostway opened up online voting to its customers and the supporters of five
prospective recipient organizations. Hostway has created two Holiday videos –
one light-hearted and the other serious – to promote the voting. The winner will
be one of the five organizations below:
Junior Achievement Chicago: Junior Achievement is the world's largest
organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness,
entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.
National Girls Collaborative Project: The National Girls Collaborative Project
brings together organizations throughout the United States that are committed to
informing and encouraging girls to pursue careers in science, technology,
engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Make-A-Wish® South and Central Texas: Make-A-Wish grants the wish of a child
diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the US and its
territories, on average, every 38 minutes. The organization believes that a wish
experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides Make-A-Wish and
inspires it to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids it serves.
Against Malaria Foundation: The Against Malaria Foundation helps protect people
from malaria. The organization funds anti-malaria nets, specifically long-
lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs), and works with distribution partners to
ensure they are used. The Against Malaria Foundation also tracks and reports
malaria case data.
Susan G. Komen Denver Metropolitan: Komen is the global leader of the breast
cancer movement, investing hundreds of millions of dollars each year for
research, education, screening and treatment and encouraging governments
everywhere to make cancer a top priority.
“At Hostway, we’re dedicated to the idea of giving back to the community, and we
encourage anyone who visits the site to vote for whichever charitable
organization they believe should receive the $10,000 donation,” said Aaron
Hollobaugh, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Hostway. 'All of these
organizations make a real difference in the lives of the people they serve, and
we’re proud to contribute to their important mission.”
